Uncharted 2: Among Thieves has surpassed 1 million sales worldwide since its release on October 13, according to publisher Sony.

In the face of the day one sales of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (7 million according to Activision), this might seem small, but Infinity Wards’ shooter is something of an anomaly.

According to independent tracking site VGChartz, Uncharted 2 has reached 1.5 million sales, placing it as the 24th highest selling game on the system, after less than a month of release.

It also stood as the best selling individual software SKU in the US during October according to the NPD group, with 537,000 sales, though that excludes sales of the limited edition.

Sony will no doubt be delighted with the performance of the title, and with a big advertising push behind it, it may well be on course to overtake its predecessor Drakes Fortune, currently the 9th best selling PS3 game, before the year is out.

It seems likely to have broken Killzone 2’s record as the highest selling SCEA title for the first 30 days from launch, having already become the second fastest selling PS3 exclusive in terms of worldwide first week sales, managing 836,000, beaten only by Metal Gear Solid 4.
