Bioshock 2 Sea of Dreams

Bioshock 2 Sea of Dreams has been announced as the sequel to Bioshock, one of the best games to be released on the Xbox 360 (and now PS3 and PC).

Rumours abound about the new release which seems to be being launched under clever and subtle marketing to whet our appettites but leave us wanting more.  Due for release in 2009 and developed by 2K Marin it looks set to go straight to Xbox, PS3 and Windows from launch, in contrast to Bioshock, which have only recently been released for the latter. Set 7 years after the first game the protagonist is rumoured to be the first ever Big Daddy, who has somehow survived the events of the first game.

Several months ago http://www.somethinginthesea.com surfaced in which reports of girls going missing are reported on, and which will form the backdrop to Bioshock 2. Rumours of a "thin attacker with red lights" surround the disappearances of girls in a number of towns around the world.  This attacker, a Big Sister, is one of the Little Sisters from the first Bioshock that has gone on to become ruler of Rapture and is motivated by turning these kidnapped girls "into creatures...like her".

Playing as the first Big Daddy, in Bioshock 2 Sea of Dreams the player will be able to use the drill and rivet fun as well as plasmids (the effects of which have changed) and upgrades on weapons and plasmids much like the first game.  Other Big Daddy special moves and abilities from the first game such as the body slam should also be an option.  Also returning is the 'decision' you will have to make as you find and rescue the new Little Sisters with an interesting development. 'Harvesting' is still an option but rather than rescuing them you will be given the option to adopt them.  Adopting a little sister will mean they accompany you one your adventure, harvesting ADAM from corpses, while protecting them from splicers and whatever other nasties now populate Rapture.  Vita chambers return, probably as much for 'logistical' reasons of saving and dying in the game, as well as audio diaries to embelish on and give the extra depth to the world, story and characters which helps to make Bioshock the game it is.

The first Bioshock outing saw you fighting your way through the under-sea city of Rapture as the protagonist Jack in an alternative history of the 1960s. Fantastic audio, visuals, game play and story line combined to make Bioshock one of the best games to be released so far for this generation of consoles (and highly deserving of it's many 9/10 and 10/10 ratings, not to mention well over 2 million copies sold) and we excitedly await the release of the next installment, Bioshock 2 Sea of Dreams.  With the game yet to even be released even Bioshock 3 seems to have been confirmed by Take-Two.
