H.A.W.X Demo now available on Xbox Live"Though I fly through the Valley of Death, I shall fear no evil. For I am at 80,000-feet and climbing." - SR-71 USAF base (Kadena, Japan) HAWX, due for release 06/03/09, is another title in the ever growing section of the games market that has Tom Clancy slapped across it being published by Ubisoft. Set in 2012, the age of nation-states is drawing to a close and the way war is raged is rapidly changing. Nations are turning to Private Military Companies (PMC’s) and are becoming reliant on them, these PMC’s fight for the cash, and this is where you come in playing the role of a PMC pilot
The demo has only two missions the first being a training mission and the second a combat mission which will have you engaging aerial, land and sea born targets. The training level sees you taking control of a trainer aircraft and teaches you the basics of the game including changing views movement and how to fight as well as how to stall and recover, then pits you against a series of drone which you have to shoot-down, once this short tutorial level is done its straight off to show. And what a show it is!The game play and the graphics of the game are what we have come to expect from a top shelf game for the 360 but the panoramic vistas that we are treated to in HAWX are impressive to say the least. The demo of HAWX shows why the Clancy games are a hit and embodies everything that is great about the series. Everything in the demo is good and in some parts outstanding. Playing the demo on normal isn’t exactly easy but it won’t have you reloading all the time due to unfortunate meetings between your plane and the enemy’s efforts to down you. Instantly accessible to those who like the Clancy games or flight games but at the same time HAWX doesn’t discourage new comers to the genre or the franchise. A good mix between Arcade and Flight Sim with some good hectic action and the promise of hours of replay value on live the only down fall really is that some of the load times can seem to stretch!
