DICE has confirmed they will be revealing more of its upcoming expansion pack, next week at Tokyo Game show. So far only a teaser trailer has been shown of the Vietnam expansion, shown at E3 2010.

Catch a glimpse of the teaser trailer below:

There is set to be Vietnam themed weapons, maps and vehicles featured in the pack. Brand new trophies and achievements will follow as well and new unlockables.

So far it’s shaping up to be a day one purchase for any fan of the series. It defiantly has more to offer than its competitions map packs from Activisions, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Anybody who purchased Bad Company 2 brand new is reaping the rewards of the VIP map packs.

The Vietnam DLC is scheduled for a winter release on Xbox Live and Playstation Network. If you haven’t done so already you can read Game Hub’s, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 review right here.

Microsoft paid $50 million for the first 2 episodic contents to be exclusive to the Xbox 360. After paying that kind of money everyone thought that it would be an exclusive deal forever. A year later it turns out that it was a timed deal and being released on PS3 and PC after all. Was the DLC really worth $50 million or did Sony save themselves a fortune?

The Lost and Damned

In the Lost and Damned players enter a world of American Choppers and leather jackets, through the eyes of Johnny Klebitz. He is a part of a motorcycle gang called ‘The Lost MC’ and been a member for countless years. Unlike Niko Bellic (GTA IV protagonist) he knows the road off the back of his hand.

Johnny is old school he’s all about brotherhood, good old rock music and talks like he’s stuck in the 70’s or 80’s. Generally all the gangs’ nature is like this and most of the conversations in cutscenes are about brotherhood. It does get pretty old quickly and you might find yourself skipping a few cutscenes.

Apart from that you’ve got a bunch of varied missions to tackle with some new weapons you’ll have a blast with. The automatic pistol is quick, accurate and effective for almost any scenario. Others weapons include a sawn off shotgun which is irresistible to use, especially on your bike for drive bys. Read More  »

Official Batman: Arkham City Screenshots

Feast your eyes on the first official screenshots of Batman: Arkham City, looking at them almost brings a tear to your eye.  It might not be snowing outside but this feels like an early Christmas present.  These marvelous images showcase what seems to be a new gadget and an updated detective mode. Also there’s screenshots of a re-designed Harley Quinn and official screens of Catwoman and Two Face.

I’m loving the designs of the new goons, they remind me of the demented enemies in Rockstar’s PS2 title Manhunt. One of the screenshots shows Batman escaping from enemies after utilizing what I think is a smoke bomb.

It is a shame fall 2011 couldn’t come any sooner but I guess good things come to those who wait. After all Rocksteady has got a lot of pressure on them to deliver a quality if better sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Its official Playstation 3 owners will finally have a chance control Commander Shepard. At the moment the release dated is slated for January 2011, which is not too far away. Also The PlayStation 3 edition will include the full Mass Effect 2 game and hours of bonus content. It’s just goes to show that nothing is Exclusive for long, unless the game is being published by Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo.

This seems to happening a lot these days, first with GTA’s DLC and then with Fallout 3’s DLC. It won’t be long before Ubisoft finally announces Splinter Cell: Conviction for PS3.

For those of you who haven’t been following the Mass Effect franchise, let me tell give you a little recap. The Mass Effect franchise is an epic science fiction adventure set in a vast universe filled with dangerous aliens and mysterious, uncharted planets.

In Mass Effect 2, PlayStation 3 players will step into the role of Commander Shepard for the very first time, leading a crew of the most dangerous special operatives from across the galaxy on a mission to save mankind. Featuring intense shooter action, a rich storyline, space exploration and emotionally engaging character interaction, Mass Effect 2 delivers an unparalleled gameplay experience.

The underground metro station is the last place where the human race remains. Looking around you will see posters of beautiful landscapes of the world you once knew. Now life Imagebeyond the metro is a post apocalyptic world, smeared in blood of innocent life’s and infested with mutated creatures.

Metro 2033 is based on a novel by Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky and does well to interpret the narrative. The loading screen between sequences has the protagonist unfold the story as you progress. If you listen to the conversations that NPC (Non Playable Characters) make you’ll get a better understanding of life in the metro.

Don’t be mistaking this for a Fallout clone as the games main focus is life in an underground metro station. Excellent level design makes environments feel fresh and varied. You won’t come across one environment that has been seen before.

The metro stations are bleak and dark, sometimes too much for your liking. While you have a flash light and lighter at your disposal, the overwhelming darkness can be very frustrating.

When you walk through the games environment you will come across mourning parents and hear people reminiscing on their lives. 4A Games have definitely achieved their goal, in terms of immersing players in the games environment. It’s a vibrant world that you feel the need to save and care about. Read More  »

For those of you who haven’t purchased the beast of a comic book game Arkham Asylum, Rocksteady has put the icing on the cake with the addition of 3D. Before your Imageimagination runs wild after watching Avatar, (which uses stereophonic 3D) don’t get hypes up.

The GOTY (Game of the Year) edition of Arkham Asylum utilizes the old school red and green 3D glasses, which depicts an illusion of depth in the game. You’ll find that there are two 3D glasses in the games cover, giving the chance for one person to play in 3D and the other to watch.

Unfortunately none of the cutscenes are in 3D but the real time gameplay is. When you first don the glasses be prepared for a world of wooziness, as your eyes take time to adjust to the glasses. At a first glimpse you’ll notice that the only 3D effect in sight is on Batman, who has an outlined focus around him.

Other time’s the 3D effect is really showcased when you’re sitting on top of a gargoyle. If you look down you get an illusion of depth and the floor ends up looking like a long fall.

It wouldn’t be a GOTY edition without added features; all of the DLC challenge maps are included in the game. These maps range from the alley way in Gotham City to the Scarecrow’s maps. Read More  »

The launch trailer for Kane & Lynch 2 has caused a bit of a stir, here in Britain and is apparently too violent for TV. The trailer shows the duo running through an alley and up some stairs into someone’s home.

Next thing you know there on the street with a road full of cop cars, the action is intense and guns are blazing. The camera work is magnificent, with all the commotion in the trailer you don’t know where to look. It makes you feel like you’re the cameraman filming them on this wild rampage.

Watch the dramatically edited launch trailer below, for TV and see the difference between the one above.

Once you’ve finished drooling over the trailer, mark the date 20th August 2010 on your Calendar. Kane & Lynch 2 will be Available on Sony PS3, Microsoft Xbox 360 and Windows PC next Friday. Check out Game Hub’s Kane & Lynch 2 preview right here.

Thanks to 2K Games, Game Hub was given the opportunity to play the Mafia II demo a week early. Representing Game Hub I went down to their office in Windsor, to Play Mafia II for the first time.

After 8 years in the making Mafia II is finally in reach of fans, just shy a few weeks from release. Powered by 2K Czech’s own Illusion Engine, Mafia II is concentrating on good old story telling.

It would seem as though this is an area that current generation of games is out of touch of. High definition presentation and powerful technology, powering video games is mainly the talk these days.

You’ll find that 2K Czech hasn’t followed suit of the inclusion of multiplayer and has chosen voice actors for their talent rather than their stardom. Mafia II wants players to experience an authentic time in America, where average jobs paid little and joining the Mafia was the route to stacks of cash. It’s not always a win win situation though, as joining the Mafia has its own implications.

Mafia II is the story of Vito Scaletta, an Italian American who’s returned from the war and discovers his family is in debt. Vito has no choice but to support his family the best he can, but he knows that a normal paid job won’t help him. So he gets involved with the wrong crowd alongside his friend Joe Barbaro, scaling the ranks of the underworld to become a name to remember. Read More  »

Prepare yourself for the biggest sandbox environment you’ll ever experience, in thefictional Panau Island (south Asia orientated) of Just Cause 2. Avalanche Studios returns for a sequel, this time introducing some new tech. Avalanche 2.0 is the name of the new game engine, used to develop Just Cause 2.

Rico Rodriguez returns as the protagonist deployed in Panau, to ultimately track down dictator Pandak Panay and annihilate his army. Never mind the story though, its cheesy B movie stuff. Don’t even get me started on the voice acting and dialogues.

Image

The real star of the show is Panau itself and Rico’s arsenal. He’s got a badass grapple hook attached to his arm, which allows you to zip anywhere from roughly 100 meters. Also attached to Rico at all times is a reusable parachute.

The grappling hook can be use to join anything together in your view. Whether that being cars to buildings or enemies to aeroplanes is entirely up to you.

You’ve got access to a black market supplier who can deliver you anything from aeroplanes, jets, boats, weapons and transport to a destination of your desire.

Then you’ve got Panau itself, which is over 1,000 square kilometers of playground. It took me half an hour to get from one side of the map, to another by aeroplane and even longer by boat. Read More  »

Many thought that a sequel wouldn’t see the light of day; others wonder whether there is even a demand for Kane & Lynch 2. Despite the criticisms of the first game, IO Interactive took it on the chin and developed a sequel anyway. This time with an urge to impress everyone with the improvements and show players how the sequel has taken a different direction.

Psychopathic mad man Lynch is the main protagonist player’s control in Kane & Lynch 2. He’s now got a girlfriend and settled down with her in Shanghai (China). Kane on the other hand has family problems, looking to escape his daily life for a while.

He is called down to Shanghai to tag along with Lynch on a job he needs help with. Unfortunately everything’s goes south and they fail to complete a simple job. Now they have the entire Shanghai underground to deal with and must pay the consequences.

Playing Kane & Lynch 2 gives you a unique experience that can only be explained as an innovative way, to give you the feeling your apart of the gaming world. In the moment of action the camera becomes unstable, when your running the camera is all over the place.

It’s almost as if you’re behind Kane & Lynch the entire time of the game with a camcorder, displaying an appealing film grain on screen. Checkpoints in game are displayed as time you’d see on a camcorder, which is a neat touch to the presentation. Read More  »
